Singh Sabha Gurdwara Wedding
A Joyful Reunion and a Wedding to Remember
It’s hard to believe it’s already been four years since Justyn and Summer got married. Looking back at their wedding, I still remember how vibrant, emotional, and full of joy every single moment was. I had photographed Justyn’s sister’s wedding a couple of years earlier, so being asked to capture his was something really special. It felt like coming home. There was already a beautiful connection with the family, and that familiarity made the entire experience even more meaningful.
Pre-Wedding Ceremonies Full of Culture and Heart
The Mehndi Ceremony
The celebrations began with traditional Indian pre-wedding events, each filled with its own energy and emotion. The mehndi ceremony was stunning. Summer had the most intricate henna designs carefully drawn onto her hands. She smiled softly as she held her hands up, the details so precise and delicate. It was one of those quiet moments where you can feel the excitement beginning to rise.
The Haldi Ceremony
Then came the haldi ceremony. There’s something so pure and loving about this tradition. Family members take turns applying turmeric paste to the bride and groom to bless them and prepare them for married life. One of my favorite photos from that day was of a young boy gently touching Summer's cheek with haldi while her grandmother looked on, beaming. It was playful and tender all at once.
Jaggo and Chooda Ceremony
The jaggo ceremony was a burst of energy. Music, dancing, and bright colors lit up the night. You could feel the joy vibrating through the floor. Summer and Justyn’s families came together with so much warmth and celebration. It’s these traditions that bring generations together and make the wedding feel like something more than just a day.
Summer also had her chooda ceremony where her red and white bridal bangles were blessed by her family. There was laughter, a few happy tears, and a strong sense of love and support surrounding her. These early ceremonies truly set the tone for the rest of the wedding.
The Sigh Sabha Gurdwara Wedding Ceremony
Their Sigh Sabha Gurdwara Wedding was held with such grace and reverence. Summer walked in with her hands together, surrounded by loved ones. She looked stunning in her red bridal lehenga. Justyn, in his ivory sherwani and red turban, looked equally regal. As they sat through the Anand Karaj ceremony, you could see their calm and steady presence. They listened, smiled, and occasionally exchanged quiet glances. The warmth in that room was undeniable.
Post-Wedding Portraits at Birdshill Park
Right after the wedding ceremony we headed to Birdshill Park for their post-wedding shoot. Walking through the trees, with the forest stretching out around them, Summer and Justyn looked like they had stepped into a fairytale. There was a quiet magic to those moments. They danced on a winding path, walked hand in hand through tall grass, and simply took in their first days as husband and wife.
A Beautiful Reception at Ashgrove Acres
The next day was their reception at Ashgrove Acres, just south of Winnipeg. It was a beautiful evening. The light was soft and golden, and the venue was surrounded by tall grasses and nature. Justyn and Summer made their entrance looking completely in love. Her reception lehenga shimmered in the light and his navy suit brought the perfect balance of elegance and charm. They laughed and held hands all evening, their smiles never fading.
A Romantic Boat Shoot
After the reception we made the most of the setting. We took a little boat out onto the water for some creative portraits. The two of them sat quietly, holding each other in the middle of a still lake, the reflections wrapping around them like a painting. It was peaceful and incredibly romantic. That shoot gave us some of my favorite images from their wedding.
Reflecting on a Timeless Sigh Sabha Gurdwara Wedding
Every part of this wedding had depth. Every ceremony held meaning. And every photo we captured tells the story of two people grounded in love, surrounded by family, and beginning a new chapter in the most heartfelt way. Revisiting their Sigh Sabha Gurdwara Wedding was a joy and a reminder of just how beautiful these celebrations can be when rooted in tradition and connection. This Sigh Sabha Gurdwara Wedding will always be one of my favorites to look back on.
