Winnipeg Wedding in Winter

1 Incredibly Beautiful Winter Winnipeg Wedding

February Winter Winnipeg Wedding – Location: Fort Garry Hotel

To start this Winter Winnipeg wedding post we have to go back to the beginning when we first met. I knew this couple was going to be a lot of fun as they pulled up to our meeting on bicycles, and patiently waited outside the wrong Starbucks because, in classic Winnipeg fashion, I’d gone to the other one across the city. By the time I arrived, they were already smiling and completely unfazed. That set the tone for everything that followed — relaxed, lighthearted, and full of heart.

From the moment we started talking, I could tell Heather and Andy were beautifully in sync. Heather is the kind of person who instantly lights up any room — charismatic, full of energy, and incredibly down-to-earth. Andy is her calm counterpart — grounded, kind, and quietly supportive. Together, they create the kind of balance that feels effortless, like they’ve always known each other.

Heather is a free spirit in the best way — full of energy, charisma, and joy. She’s the kind of person who instantly lights up a room and makes friends wherever she goes. Andy, on the other hand, is the quiet strength beside her — warm, steady, and grounded. Together, they make a beautiful balance. Photographing couples like this is a true gift.

A Winnipeg Winter Wedding Celebration – Fort Garry Hotel, Winnipeg

Their winter wedding ceremony and reception both took place at the Fort Garry Hotel, one of the most historic and romantic venues in the city. From the ornate chandeliers to the grand staircases and tall windows, everything about this place photographs like a dream — especially during the winter months when the snow adds a soft glow to the light coming through.

The ballroom was full of warmth — not just from the decor, but from the people. Their friends and family brought such incredible energy to the day, making it not just beautiful, but deeply joyful.

And of course, the Fort Garry’s old-world charm gave us so many stunning locations for portraits — from moody hallway shots to elegant captures in the main lobby. It’s always a treat to shoot here, and with Heather and Andy, every frame felt full of personality.

Their Winter Winnipeg wedding was filled with joy and laughter, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.

Now, here’s where things got even more fun…

Partway through the night, the dance floor had not one, but two brides. Why? Because as it turns out, a friend of theirs was also getting married — right across the hall! Naturally, the parties merged, and soon guests from both weddings were dancing and celebrating together. Two brides, two grooms, one unforgettable night. I mean, how could you not love that?

Fireball, Skates, and All the Fun in Between

This Winter Winnipeg wedding had all the ingredients I love — real connection, laughter, and meaningful moments that make the celebration special.

One of my favorite moments? When she laced up her skates and hit the ice — full wedding dress and all — flying down the river trail like it was nothing. Andy might not have been quite as excited about skating in February, but of course, he went along for the ride because… anything for his bride.

If you need any more proof that Heather is a total legend, let’s talk about the Fireball. Yep — she was passing the bottle, taking swigs, and keeping the energy high all night. She’s the kind of bride that reminds you weddings are about celebrating, not stressing. And that vibe carried through every part of their day.

A Beautiful Start to the Year

This Winter wedding in Winnipeg had all the ingredients I love — real connection, laughter, spontaneity, and meaningful moments. From quiet portraits in the hotel’s historic hallways to wild dance floor shots shared between two wedding parties, Heather and Andy’s day was unforgettable in the best way.

Kicking off the year with this celebration reminded me why I do what I do. It’s not just about taking photos — it’s about documenting stories, personalities, and moments that truly matter.

It was an honour to be part of this Winter Winnipeg wedding, and I wish Heather and Andy a lifetime of happiness together.
