Summer Engagement Session

Fun And Beautiful Hecla Engagement Pictures

Hecla Engagement Pictures | Lucky + Sunny

There’s something truly magical about exploring new places with couples in love—and this shoot was exactly that. Lucky and Sunny are the kind of couple who radiate positive energy and just make everything more fun. Their Hecla engagement pictures are some of my favourites, not just because of the location, but because of how naturally these two connect with each other and the camera.

They originally booked me while I was overseas in Germany last year. At the time, we had a big idea to meet up and shoot their engagement session in Switzerland, which would’ve been a dream setting. Unfortunately, our schedules didn’t line up during my European stay, so the Swiss Alps shoot had to be put on hold (for now 😉). But as it turned out, everything worked out exactly how it was meant to—because these Hecla Engagement Pictures delivered everything and more.

Even though we had chatted before, the day of the shoot was actually the first time we met in person. They picked me up, and we hit the road to Hecla with excitement and zero awkwardness—just good vibes and great conversation. That energy translated so well into the photos.

Hecla Island is a bit of a hidden gem in Manitoba, nestled about two hours north of Winnipeg. It offers a stunning mix of lake views, forests, trails, and rocky shorelines. It’s peaceful, quiet, and feels completely untouched—making it the perfect backdrop for couples who want something different and timeless for their engagement session.

This was my first time in Hecla, and I was blown away. We didn’t even get to explore everything the area has to offer, but we found so many picturesque spots that made the session feel like we were in a remote piece of paradise. The island features everything from serene walking trails to rugged beaches and a historic lighthouse. We didn’t have time to make it to the lighthouse this time around, but we agreed that we’d all love to come back and explore more in the future—maybe for an anniversary shoot?

One of the most beautiful moments of the evening was watching the sunset on the beach, just the three of us, completely undisturbed. We were literally the only people there. It felt like we had the entire lakefront to ourselves, and that solitude created such an intimate, calm vibe that comes through in every single frame.

A Day to Remember—For More Than One Reason

There was another big event happening that evening: the Toronto Raptors won the NBA Championship, beating the Golden State Warriors in Game 6. Lucky, being a die-hard Raptors fan, had to miss watching the game live to be at the shoot—which makes this session even more legendary. We were checking updates between shots, and when we finally found out the Raptors had won, the celebration felt complete. It was a perfect Canadian evening—epic basketball win, gorgeous golden-hour light, and two people in love making memories on the lakeshore.
