IPSHA + GURMUN — an Indian Wedding at the Fort Garry Hotel
I’ve photographed countless Indian weddings at the iconic Fort Garry Hotel, but each one still feels magical in its own way. Gurmun and Ipsha’s two-day celebration was no exception — a vibrant, emotional, and unforgettable wedding that beautifully blended tradition with modern elegance.
The festivities began with a traditional Sikh wedding ceremony at the South Sikh Centre in Winnipeg. Gurmun made his grand arrival with a spirited baraat procession, surrounded by friends, family, and the rhythmic energy of dhol drums. The celebration was loud, joyful, and full of anticipation.
Inside the Gurdwara, the atmosphere shifted to one of deep reverence. The Anand Karaj ceremony unfolded with grace and solemnity, as the Granthi recited sacred hymns and the couple walked around the Guru Granth Sahib, making lifelong commitments in front of their loved ones. Ipsha, radiant in her red lehenga, brought a quiet strength and grace to the ceremony. It was a powerful, heartfelt experience that left a lasting impression on all who attended.
The following day, the celebration continued at the Fort Garry Hotel Grand Ballroom, one of Winnipeg’s most beloved wedding venues. Beneath glittering chandeliers and surrounded by timeless architecture, the ballroom was transformed into a luxurious, storybook setting. Gurmun and Ipsha made a grand entrance to thunderous applause, welcomed with the love and excitement of everyone in the room.
The night unfolded with touching speeches, traditional dance performances, and a multi-course Indian feast. From lively bhangra beats to romantic Bollywood songs, the dance floor was alive until the very end. Every moment was a celebration of their love, their families, and the traditions that brought everyone together.
While Fort Garry weddings are familiar territory, each one tells a completely unique story — and Gurmun and Ipsha’s was a perfect example of that. Their wedding was more than a beautiful event; it was a celebration of legacy, love, and connection. The energy, emotion, and elegance that carried through both days will no doubt be remembered by everyone who was lucky enough to witness it.
If you’re planning a Fort Garry Indian wedding, or seeking a wedding photographer in Winnipeg who understands both the grandeur and the intimate moments of South Asian celebrations — I’d love to hear your story.
