Ashgrove Acres Indian Wedding
Reena & Inder’s Unforgettable Multi-Day Indian Wedding at Ashgrove Acres Indian Wedding
If you’ve ever wondered what true joy, color, and family connection look like, Reena and Inder’s wedding week this May at Ashgrove Acres Indian Wedding, just outside Winnipeg, was the perfect example. Their celebrations were full of heartfelt moments, wild dancing, and traditions that brought two families together in the most beautiful way.
The festivities kicked off with an energetic engagement party at the Punjab Cultural Centre, where family and friends gathered to officially celebrate Reena and Inder’s upcoming union. This was just the start — Reena’s home soon buzzed with the Mehndi ceremony, where intricate henna designs were drawn on her hands while loved ones shared laughter and songs at the Ashgrove Acres Indian Wedding.
Next up were the Haldi ceremonies — one at Reena’s home and one at Inder’s — where turmeric paste was lovingly applied by family and friends, blessing the couple with good fortune. The energy was electric when Reena and her family “crashed” Inder’s Jaggo night! The Jaggo, always a favorite, turned into a massive dance party, with Reena’s side joining Inder’s family, signs in hand, to light up the night under strings of lights and a flurry of confetti.
This Ashgrove Acres Indian wedding day itself was truly magical. A signature wedding arch, made the perfect setting for their outdoor Milni ceremony. This traditional introduction of families was full of laughter. Especially when everyone tried to lift each other up! After these warm introductions, guests made their way inside for the Anand Karaj. The indoor space was filled with beautiful natural light pouring in through large windows, and the aisle was lined with beautiful flowers.
One of the most touching moments was watching Reena walk down the flower-lined aisle, hand in hand with her parents, in her breathtaking red lengha. She and Inder locked eyes, sharing a smile that perfectly captured the excitement and calm they felt at that moment.
Following the Sikh ceremony, guests enjoyed a delicious lunch under a nearby tent while the new space beside it got ready for the second ceremony. Under a newly built wooden structure, Reena and Inder took part in a traditional Hindu ceremony. Surrounded by loved ones, they made offerings to the sacred fire and circled it four times to complete their pheras, sealing their vows as family showered them with flower petals.
In the middle of all this, a classic moment unfolded: Inder’s shoes were stolen as part of the traditional fun. The scene turned hilarious when one shoe ended up on the roof! It took a long stick and a lot of cheering to rescue it, but it made for one of the most unique and memorable photos of the day.
Before wrapping up, we captured some beautiful portraits around the venue. Even taking the drone up for stunning aerial shots of the property, adding a dreamy perspective to their wedding story. The evening concluded with an emotional Doli ceremony at Reena’s house. One of my favourite moments was Reena wiping away her father’s tears as they said their heartfelt goodbyes. It was a bittersweet moment every bride and her family will always remember.
But the celebration didn’t end there! The following day was all about the grand reception. We started with portraits at their hotel because it was so windy outside. Battling the strong Manitoba winds we did find the perfect spot with blooming magenta flowers which really made the photos truly pop.
To add something different to their photos, Reena and Inder stopped by Select Start, a new arcade and restaurant in Winnipeg, for a couple of cocktails and some fun, quirky portraits among the neon signs and retro games.
Finally, it was time for the big party at the RBC Convention Centre, a venue I’ve photographed countless times but one that always feels fresh thanks to stunning décor. The hall was transformed with elegant floral arrangements and glowing candlelight. The night was filled with heartfelt speeches, emotional dances, and an epic dance-off between the bride’s and groom’s families. This all lead to a packed dance floor with glow sticks waving high, lighting up the night until the very last song.
Reena and Inder’s beautiful Ashgrove Acres Indian wedding was for me a memorable one. It was a perfect blend of tradition, family, fun, and love. I feel so grateful to have documented every moment for them to relive for years to come.
